Thanks to a generous grant from the Lilly Endowment, Inc., 0ur Pastor Bob Fox will be on Sabbatical from June through August.  Each month, there will be special activities related to Bob's Sabbatical.

 

 

Our sabbatic pastor will be Dr. Charles Bugg.  He will keep regular hours in the office and will be responsible for pastoral duties.  Our other ministry staff will aid him just as they do when Bob is here.  

 

June For Us:  Storytelling Through The Spoken Word--Sunday, June 13, 11 AM

 

 

On June 13, we will host professional storyteller Buck Creacy.  He will weave his stories in worship, join us for a meal and then lead a workshop on storytelling for everyone who is interested (similar programs will be offered for youth and children).  Buck, a Texas native and Georgetown resident, describes himself as “a weaver of words since 14 years old, telling stories at Slim's Barbershop, while I shined shoes and made folks laugh."

 

 

June for Bob: J.R.R. Tolkien

Bob will spend the first weeks of his   renewal leave studying Tolkien with Dr. Stratford Caldecott at Oxford.  His family will join him for a trip to the Ribble Valley, the English countryside that may have inspired Middle Earth.  They also will have the opportunity to visit Paris and London where Bob will focus on how the places create their unique ambiance.
